| Born and raised in Little
Rock, Dr. David Wassell earned a BS in History from the United
States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, before
pursuing his medical education. As an Air Force Captain and F-16
Fighter Pilot, Dr. Wassell flew combat planes in the NATO Peace-Keeping
No-Fly Zone Mission in Bosnia in 1996.
While flying remains his first love, following in the footsteps
of his mentor, Dr. John Wilson, and entering the field of orthopedics
was another career highlight for Dr. Wassell. After receiving his
medical degree from the University of Arkansas College of Medicine,
Dr. Wassell completed his internship and residency in orthopedics
at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
As an avid artist, Dr. Wassell was drawn to the creative, reconstructive
nature of orthopedics. He enjoys “fixing” people by treating their injuries
to either add to the quality of their life or return them to their pre-injury
quality of life. With a personality well-suited for the field of orthopedics,
Dr. Wassell loves seeing the results of his work as patients move from being
broken and hurting to being mended and well.
Anticipating more spare time as he completes his residency, Dr.
Wassell is looking forward to getting back into flying as a hobby.
He also enjoys fly-fishing, deer and duck hunting, reading, painting,
drawing, photography, good restaurants, and spending time with
friends and his family in Little Rock.
