Smell the Roses

Florist Linda Sowell considered giving up the work she loved—until her doctor referred her to OrthoArkansas.

Constant pain, weakness, and tingling in her right hand threatened to end Linda Sowell's career. As a floral designer, her hands were vital for her livelihood, and the pain was far more than inconvenient.

"The pain was so severe... I would drop vases. I couldn't hold anything. After 28 years of floral arranging, the thought that I might not be able to continue doing what I love was emotionally overwhelming."

Fortunately, Linda's primary care physician identified the condition plaguing her right wrist as carpal tunnel syndrome and referred her to OrthoArkansas for treatment.

"It was reassuring to know I had someone I could depend on for help."

Surgery gave Linda immediate relief. She needed very little pain medication after the procedure (carpal tunnel release), less even than she had been taking prior to surgery, and she returned to work within three weeks.

"It was unbelievable what I could do after surgery. I was back to work—even lifting buckets and vases—and I had the strength back in my hand. Now, I have no pain and no problems."
