Job Position: Self Pay Representative

Job Description: The purpose of the Self Pay Representative is to provide explanations or solutions to patients concerns and questions regarding charging, insurance and patient billing issues.

Job Type: Full-time

Self Pay Representative Duties

  • Inbound and outbound phone work

  • Assist patient with billing/insurance/account operation needs

  • Processing payments over the phone from patients

  • Negotiating payment arrangements with patients

  • Works closely with the Collectors to ensure claims were processed correctly and patient balance is correct

  • Explains insurance company’s explanation of benefits

  • Updates patient demographics and insurance information as needed

  • Reviews open accounts for collection efforts

  • Review and monitor assigned accounts for collection efforts

  • Provide customer service in a timely manner

  • Other duties as assigned


  1. High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of clerical experience

  2. Preferred Insurance, Coding/Billing Accounts Receivable experience

  3. Excellent attention to detail

  4. Proficient in the use of computer programs, 10-Key proficiency
