Meet Dr. Paulus

Dr. Stephen Paulus is a Little Rock native and graduate of Little Rock Christian Academy. He grew up in a medical family with a pediatrician father and registered nurse mother. His first hands-on exposure to medicine occurred during a mission trip to Honduras as a high school student, and this experience shaped and guided his interests towards the profession.

He graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois with honors in 2005, and returned home for medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Upon attaining his doctorate in 2009, Dr. Paulus completed his medical internship at East Carolina University and residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Kansas University Medical Center where he served as chief resident. He is fellowship-trained in conservative and interventional spine care at Stanford University Medical Center.

Dr. Paulus chose residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation because he values the principles of multidisciplinary care for reducing pain and restoring function to his patients, allowing them to once again find value and happiness in their daily life. He finds satisfaction in helping patients return to work, become more independent in daily living, and return to activities that were once difficult.

He enjoys spending time with his wife, who is a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN), and their three young children. He also enjoys tennis and attending concerts.
